About

Al-Basha first stepped onto Charlotte’s food scene in 2014, serving up honest, flavorful halal Mediterranean dishes that quickly earned a loyal following. From our house-marinated shawarma to our handmade spreads, every plate was built on real ingredients, familiar flavors, and a respect for tradition.

After a two-year break, we’re back—bringing the same care and quality to a refreshed experience. The staples you remember are still here, along with a few new offerings: rich Arabic coffee brewed the proper way, and fresh smoothies blended in-house, morning to evening.

Whether you’re grabbing a quiet lunch or gathering the family for a full spread, Al-Basha remains a place where the food speaks for itself—and where Charlotte can always come for a taste that feels like home.

Over the years, we’ve been lucky to earn the trust and praise of the Charlotte community. Here’s what a few of our guests had to say about their experience with us:

"This was my first time trying this spot and it was very late so it was great that the staff was so accommodating. My friend ordered us wraps, I got the regular and he got the vegan. Mine was great, full of veggies and flavor.
The decor is very nice as well, traditional and authentic. For anyone who loves hookah this was a great place. I'm from DC and the hookahs aren't as big, so I know these were authentic. They pulled heavy too.
The staff were excellent and attentive. My friend knows the owner so it was cool that he came out and greeted us and checked to see how we were doing. I'm certainly coming back when I'm in town."

"This place is great! The service was great the food was amazing and the drinks where really good. I had a lemon mint smoothie it was very refreshing and tasteful i also had the grilled charcoal chicken over rice with salad and it was chefs kiss, they seriously need to bottle up that garlic sauce i could swim in it that's how good it was.. We sat on the patio and it was just such a vibe we order hookah which was not expensive compared to other places and i honestly loved it i will definitely be back and they close at 1am so you guys have plenty of time to try too !"

"It was a great first time experience at Al-basha with my friend and we already planning to go back! The server was very kind and attentive , took time to ask us what our preference was and his recommendations were spot on. We loved the Kurdish wrap (high quality meat), appetizers: baba ganoosh and falafel (both made from scratch), and to top it all off home made kunafe and authentic milk tea! It was heavenly and we highly recommend it. Thank you for such an excellent treatment!
